The working conditions of the Dalhousie Faculty Association are our learning conditions. In order for students to succeed in our university studies, Dalhousie University`s faculty must have access to a work environment that supports and respects their work. Students want to learn and complete our studies on time and without interruption. We hope that the university will come to the negotiating table in good faith to ensure that our learning conditions are maintained and sustained in the future. The DSU will continue to inform members of the status of the ADF and Dalhousie denials and will inform students of the impact this will have on their studies throughout the semester, as long as the information becomes available. Like all post-secondary institutions in Nova Scotia, Dalhousie quickly turned to e-learning after the introduction of the COVID-19 pandemic in March. Westwood said many instructors to survive the winter semester clung to their conventional courses, but simply delivered them by videoconference. The DSU recognizes that the conditions in which our faculty operates are directly related to the conditions in which we learn. If our faculty is overburdened, underestimated and not respected in negotiations, our academics will suffer as well.
We have already heard thousands of students talk about how hard online learning has been during this pandemic. The faculty sought the university`s help, but it was not sufficient. Students are suffering the downstream effects of a board of directors that is not prepared to give priority to academics and students, as we have already seen with their insistence on increasing teaching during a global pandemic. The committee receives a concomitant majority if at least two members of the association`s committee and two members of the board of directors` committee vote in favour of a motion. Any agreement reached by the majority committee on the interpretation or application of the collective agreement is binding if confirmed in writing and signed by the two co-chairs. This semester was as embarrassing for students as it was for teachers. September 25th. In 2020, the Dalhousie Faculty Association (DFA) released the results of a summary report on the Workload Survey, which shows that more than 85% of respondents had a higher or much higher level of stress than the previous year. As our entire Dalhousie community works to adapt to e-learning, faculties have worked tirelessly to create a successful academic environment and support students.
Unfortunately, they have been supported themselves, although they are asking the university for changes and resources that have simply not been provided. Many members of the ADF feel overwhelmed, frightened and despised by the inactive actions and actions of the Board of Governors. Step 6 Once the host institution has concluded and signed its section of the learning agreement, it can be emailed to LOP@dal.ca or faxed to 902-494-1630. It is important that this is completed as soon as possible and returned to the chancellery. If you have a student state loan, we cannot sign your loan until your apprenticeship contract is returned to the Regsitrar office. „Negotiating a new collective agreement with the Dalhousie Faculty Association gives the university some stability at a time when we expect it to be difficult for all our employees, teachers and students,“ Bryson said by email.
